“I promise to lead with conviction, turn discussion into action, and make decisions that move our city forward!”

THE EARLY YEARS

Kyle & Summer.JPG

I attended the University of Nevada, earning a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Journalism in just three and a half years. During college, I was active in the Delta Delta Delta sorority, several honor societies, served as a legislative intern in 2003, attended Columbia University’s Visiting Students Program of Political Science, and met my husband, Kyle, whom I married in 2005.

I later earned my M.A. in Political Science from the University of Nevada while working as a city planner for the City of Sparks and served as secretary of the Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Planning Association. As Kyle and I grew our family, I balanced life as a mom of three with running a successful Etsy shop and supporting our family business. In 2017, I was appointed to the Storey County Planning Commission and was elected to serve as Vice Chair in 2020.

LIVE, WORK, PLAY

In 2021, Kyle and I took ownership of our family construction company and, in 2023, purchased and renovated a commercial building in Midtown. We quickly embraced the area’s vibrant culture and chose to fully commit to the “live, work, play” lifestyle by purchasing a home in the surrounding area. Today, we’re proud to be fully invested in Ward 2 our business is thriving, our children attend nearby Washoe County schools, and our daily lives revolve around the community we love. I’m eager to serve this neighborhood and the people who make it such a wonderful place to call home.

UNIQUELY QUALIFIED

As a former city planner in the public-sector, I drafted ordinances, guided residents through the planning process, and worked with developers to ensure alignment with the city’s development requirements. My time as a planning commissioner gave me valuable perspective on public decision-making and constituent engagement. Today, as co-owner and Chief Operating Officer of our family-owned union general contracting company, I oversee all administrative and operational functions while ensuring that business runs efficiently and that our strategic vision is executed. Since taking ownership in 2021, we’ve grown over 1,000%, creating jobs and driving local economic impact. My combined experience in both public service and private industry uniquely positions me to represent the people and priorities of Ward 2.

Giving back has always been a priority for me. I’m actively involved in organizations that strengthen our community including the Construction Leadership Council, Associated General Contractors (AGC) Workforce Development, AGC Government Affairs, and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). I’m also working with local colleagues to establish a Northern Nevada chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). I’m dedicated to making a difference in my industry, my community, and with your support our local government. I’m ready to represent the people of Ward 2 with commitment, integrity, and results.
